We were born from a blend of Brooklyn's vibrant coffee culture, time-honored Swedish baking traditions, and a dash of Norse mythology.

WHO WE ARE

Swedish Roots.

For THORSDAY's founder, Peter Twickler, earliest memories revolve around his mother's kitchen. He observed as she prepared traditional Swedish dishes, following recipes her mother taught. The aroma of cardamom buns and coffee became a constant backdrop, and Peter learned about "fika"—the practice of taking breaks for food and conversation. Through these experiences, he gained an appreciation for his family's culinary heritage and its continuity across generations.

Brooklyn's Coffee Scene.

As Peter's love for coffee grew, so did his expertise. He spent years honing his craft as a barista and manager in some of Brooklyn's most beloved cafes. This experience deepened his appreciation for quality coffee and the community that forms around it.

A Scholar's Touch.

But Peter's interests extended beyond the practical. As a scholar of Norse mythology, he found fascinating connections between ancient tales and modern traditions. This passion infused THORSDAY with a unique character - even our name is a nod to Thor, the Norse god of thunder, as "Thursday" originally meant "Thor's Day."

THORSDAY is Born.

In founding THORSDAY, Peter has created a space where all these elements come together. Here, you'll find expertly crafted coffee served alongside authentic Swedish breads, bites, and pastries inspired by grandmother's recipes. The warm, inviting atmosphere encourages customers to slow down, connect, and savor life's simple pleasures.

We invite you to join us in this celebration of heritage, craft, and community. Welcome to THORSDAY - where every day feels like your day!
